JHS Madrigal Feaste held Valtine's Day weekend
by Jay Forness ~ Assistant Editor
This year the Jackson High School’s Choral Department held its annual Ye Olde Madrigal Feaste on Valentines Day weekend, after being postponed due to COVID-19.
Performances were held on Friday and Saturday night as scheduled, and the Thursday night performance was rescheduled to Sunday afternoon due to the weather.
Attendance was limited this year due to COVID-19, and all choir members and guests were required to wear masks throughout the performance.
Despite the changes, members of JHS’s Concert Choir, Women’s Choir and Handbell Choir were able to perform Christmas carols in the Bavarian Halle.
This year’s story included a stranger, played by Sadie Middleton, who transports a family, played by Grace Gilbert, Hunter DeClue, Layla Fliege, Hailey Fisher and Maite Mendez, to a Christmas celebration hosted by King Arthur and Queen Victoria, played by Rhet Liley and Hannah Shinn.
King Arthur asked all the lords and ladies who traveled to the feaste to honor Queen Victoria by giving her a snow globe that related to their favorite Christmas scene. These scenes were then celebrated through songs and stories.
Noah Sparks, Makenna Wessell, Sam Nispel, Peyton Lintner, Zoe Freeman, Wyatt Dunning and MacKenzie Schubert made up the royal court of lords and ladies.
