Summer Lane Boutique opens in Uptown Jackson

Uptown Jackson just keeps growing. The newest addition to the High Street shopping district is Summers Lane, a charming boutique filled with ladies fashions and home décor.

The shop is owned and operated by two women, Heather Summers and Shelly Lane, who opened the doors to their boutique on Aug. 2.

Heather and Shelly have been friends for many years, and they decided to start an online fashion business one year ago and launched a website.

That business proved to be very successful, and Shelly said they really had no intention of ever opening a brick and mortar store. But a friend, Cindi Morris, told them about a building in Uptown Jackson that was available.

Heather and Shelly went to inspect the building on High Street and decided they could remodel the interior and make the leap to open a store there.

Shelly said they were very fortunate to have husbands and friends who could help with the work.

They removed the tile from the floor and restored the hardwood flooring beneath it. Most of the plaster was removed from the walls, and the original brick was exposed.

They also removed the drop ceiling and restored the original charm to the interior of the building.

“Most of the work was pretty much done by our husbands and friends,” Shelly noted. “The truth is, we are just two mamas with real estate and medical field backgrounds who decided to go for it. We have amazing children and supportive husbands, thank goodness.”

Shelly’s husband is J.J., and they have three children, Austin, Emma and Zachary. Heather’s husband is Aaron, and they have two girls, Hannah and Emma.

Filling the shop with fashions was fun for the women.

“We cater to all ages of women and try to focus on teens and women of all ages,” Shelly said. “We like to be trendy, but sophisticated with things that don’t go out of style. We have a wide variety of clothing of good quality in a variety of price ranges.”

The store carries dresses, rompers, kimonos, cardigans, tops, graphic tees, bottoms, shoes and accessories.

In addition to fashions, Cindi has joined the shop as a consigner with a big variety of home décor, some of which she makes herself. Shoppers can find unique jewelry, candles, painted wood crafts and much more to decorate the home.

“Aside from our love of clothing and all things fashion, we love building relationships and building up other women,” Shelly noted. “We love helping other ladies look and feel beautiful.”

Summers Lane Boutique is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m, and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and for the Thursday night Sip & Shop from 6-8 p.m.

The online store will remain open for shopping at, with free shipping on all orders in the U.S.
