Senior Kyle Keith out strutted 17 other senior classmates to win the title of Mr. JHS Friday, March 5. Keith’s escort for the evening was Cailin McGinnis. The seniors competed in rounds of formal wear, casual wear, and dance routine, talent competition, and interview.

The evening began with the mistresses of ceremonies, Morene Mouser and Megan Rush, welcoming the crowd and introducing the Mr. JHS contestants in their formal wear accompanied by their escorts.

The contestants then competed in their “casual wear” where many famous faces were spotted including Tiger Woods, Edward and Jacob from Twilight, Cookie Monster, and Lady Gaga.

The crowd was entertained by some of Jackson High’s finest. Logan Clippard sang ‘I Told You So’ by Randy Travis/Carrie Underwood, Ashley Bess sang ‘Kiss Me’ by Sixpence None The Richer, and Trent Dickerson sang ‘Question’ by Rhett Miller. The group of Jack Meyer, Tyler Myers, and Cole Bilek performed ‘Tribute’ also known as ‘The Greatest Song in the World’ by Tenacious D.

After all 18 contestants competed in formal and casual wear and performed a dance routine to Jessie James’ ‘My Cowboy,’ the top five finalists were announced. Those chosen to the top five were Holt Walker, Mitchel Hazelwood, Taylor Williams, Logan Reed, and Kyle Keith.

The top five were then asked to perform a talent and answer an interview question.

After all the votes from the judges were tallied, Keith was named Mr. JHS. First runner-up was Taylor Williams and second runner-up was Holt Walker.

All the proceeds from the competition went to the Special Olympics of Southeast Missouri.

Candidates from the 2010 Mr. JHS competition were Taylor Kight, Holt Walker, Josh Walter, Mitchel Hazelwood, Dylan McDonald, Eli Gohn, Taylor Williams, Christopher Bonner, Blake Fields, Alex Parker, Casey Benefield, Chad Strong, Cameron Wood, Logan Reed, Cody Sandusky, Max Mc-Neely, Kyle Keith, and Thomas Gilliland.
